Lucifer is an American urban fantasy television series, developed by Tom Kapinos, that premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016 and is based on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg.

The show revolves around Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) who is bored with his life, being the Lord of Hell for a millennia. He abandons his throne in defiance to his father (God) and becomes a civilian consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department while running his own high-end nightclub called "Lux". He becomes involved in a murder case with Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), with whom he stars to fall in love with.

Despite the huge success of the fantasy show, Fox decided to cancel it after three seasons. However, after fans stood up for their favourite series by starting petitions and actively asking other platforms to pick it up, Netflix was the hero who saved it. The fourth season received positive feedback and left Lucy fans satisfied with the new production and thirsty for more episodes.

Lucifer will return with a new season next month and everyone is going crazy after the release of an exciting trailer.

It was officially announced that the Netflix show will air the first part of its fifth season on August 21th. The streaming platform released a 2:06 minutes long trailer, revealing some detail about what is coming.

The trailer starts with the ending of season 4 in order to quickly remind fans where it all ended – Lucifer had to sacrifice himself by going back to hell in order to save the day once again. This last scene left fans sobbing as he and Chloe, the main female protagonist, were just about to get together with her finally accepting his true nature.

The video continues with some scenes of Chloe, who is visibly upset by the prolonged absence of the man she has fallen in love with. She is spending time with Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt), a demon from Hell, and throwing herself to work in an attempt to distract herself but still admits to not being okay.

The following frames reveal the two women being in a bad situation with a risk to their lives when the long-expected main guy makes his return, walking in calmly as usual, and saving them. However, some of the characters start to notice a change in Lucifer’s behavior. In a fight between Maze and him, where she is demanding answers as to why he left her behind alone on Earth, the man confesses he is not actually Lucifer but his twin brother Michael. He is posing as Lucifer with the clear plan to not just break his life but to take it as he gets close to all of his acquaintances, including Chloe.

The culmination of the teaser trailer shows us the real Lucifer coming back and getting into an epic fight with his twin – a duel that looks promising and makes fans even more excited. The video ends with a Chloe moment where she proclaims that “For now I’m gonna stick to police work and avoid anything God-related.”, a second after which we see the actual God coming down to Earth – something that has been anticipated ever since the start of the show.

August will be full of excitement for everyone who loves Lucifer as the new season looks really promising and is expected to be epic and to attract even more viewers to the show.
